Lessons · My Father's World · Take Part

Romans 10:14-15

How does knowing the joy-breathing, peace-blessing gospel of Christ change your life?

How does the overflowing loves of Christ, spread abroad in your heart, spill over in your love for others?

How are you doing fulfilling your greatest purpose — to magnify the Lord in your world?

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” The Great Commission is humbling. There is no way that alone we can reach every nation, touch every life. Obedience to Jesus’ last command requires us to depend on His power and the promise that immediately follows the charge: “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt 28). Remembering that He is doing “big picture work” to reconcile the world to Himself is what enables us to embrace His calling in purpose-filled choices every day.

Will we choose to live simply — wear last year’s trends, pack a lunch, drive an old car, cut up our credit cards — so we have available resources and uncluttered hands  to give to gospel ministry?

Will we choose to give of an afternoon, a week, a summer, a year to immerse ourselves in the needs of other people?

Will we choose to wake up an hour earlier so we can spend devoted time in intercessory prayer for God’s will to be done in the nations?

Will we choose to sponsor a child, to sponsor a missionary, to write encouraging letters to harvesters around the world?

In our daily responses to God’s prompting, as we learn to say “Yes, Lord” and “Here I am”, a wonderful thing happens. We are made beautiful. Because the radiance of Christ’s glory is shining brighter as the smudges of a self-centered life are wiped away.
