From the Heart

tabernacle

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Word, the Word, the Word.
Jesus, Christ, Son of God,The Lord of all the world.
The Word that breathed all that is into existence

This Word left all He knew as King of Kings,
the murmur of a thousand angels’ worship,
all the honor and glory of heaven—
to dwell among us.

To Tabernacle with us.

What is Tabernacle?
Imagine a desert.
Scorching, merciless, endless.
Now imagine a people wandering there.
Weary, thirsty.Ready to give up on hope of rescue.

But hope was there.
God was there, in the wilderness. And He made a place, a sacred place, a place of refuge.
The presence of God took residence on scorched earth.

This is Tabernacle.
A bridge between mortal and divine
where God comes near to weary, thirsty people,

where sins are forgiven, covenants are made.
Hope is restored.

Because God is Love.
And He never stops

Pursuing, reaching, reviving

Us.

And one day, that Love became a Person,
the infinite One confined Himself to flesh,
became the very stuff that we are made of—
To tabernacle with us.

Of all the humans He could be,
He did not become the strongest or prettiest or most well-know.
But a baby.
Vulnerable, dependent, insignificant.
Not just one of us, but the least of us.

Walk with me down the street.
See the man huddled down on corner, braced against the cold;
See the woman, hunched from disappointment, who doesn’t meet our eyes;
See the young fragile girl, searching for a love that doesn’t disappoint;
See young angry boy, fists clenched towards the future.

He came to dwell among them, among us.
Diving into the depths of mortal life:
temptation, hunger, loneliness, rejection.
The very presence of God stretched into every human crevice.

Then the Tabernacle was a Cross.
Holy hands outstretched — a bridge between mortal and divine God.
Himself a weary, thirsty Man,
enduring the worst of human pain and our greatest fear — Death.

Why?
Because here is the fullest display of God’s glory
Mercy in the wilderness, Grace without constraints
Love that comes close, gives everything.

On His broken body was the ultimate sacrifice
Sins forgiven, a covenant promise made. You are Mine and I am yours.
Hope is restored and d
eath is no more.

Because God is Love.
And He never stops

Pursuing, reaching reviving

Us.

The Word, the Word, the Word,
Jesus, Christ, Son of God,The Lord of all the world
the Word that breathed all that is into existence

This Word is dwelling among us.
Even in the messy, the mundane, the wilderness,
He promises
that we will never, ever have to live without Him.
There is no greater Gift.
